When to use this spread

A view of how the situation develops through time — where it came from and where it is moving.

Why this spread

Sometimes the question is not "what is happening" but "how did I get here". The time axis shows the situation as movement: what led to it, where it is now, and where it heads if the dynamic continues. The simplest spread, and the one in which change is easiest to spot.

The positions and what each one means

  1. 1

    Past
What brought you to this point

  2. 2

    Present
The situation as it stands now

  3. 3

    Future
The direction that opens if nothing significant changes

What sets it apart

If the situation itself matters more than the time axis, the 3-Card Reading is usually more precise.
